The Mosbloempje

The mosbloempje (Crassula tillaea syn. Tillaea Crassula mucosa and mucosa) is an annual plant of the succulent family, and is on the Dutch Red List (plant) as very rare and stable or increased. The species is native to Eurasia.


The 1-5 inch tall plant has thin, horizontal or ascending, blunt square stems. The oval at the foot fused leaves are 1-2 mm long and pairs on the stem. The young leaves are green and change color with age through orange to deep red.


Mosbloempje It blooms from April to September with white or pink flowers 2 mm wide. The flowers are sessile and usually ternate.


The plant occurs in the summer drying ground along paths and in cemeteries.


The fruit is a fruit box with 1 or 2 seeds.
