Wicker and wood
The silver-grazing pasture was cut frequently as a head. The willow branches were formerly used as weaving material. The white-gray with brown wood core is used less frequently. It is soft, less resilient, well-cleaved and flexible. There are usually cricket bats, wooden shoes or prostheses produced therefrom. More often it is used as fuel or in the paper industry.
Medicinal plant
The bark of the willow contains salicin, the analgesic and antipyretic. In the 12th Century Hildegard von Bingen Weidenrindentee recommended for fever, gout and articular rheumatism. In the 17 Century, the bark has been used to manufacture drugs for gout and rheumatism.
