Holunder

The elderberry (Sambucus) form a genus in the family of Adoxaceae (Adoxaceae). The genus contains about 30 to 40 species worldwide, three of which are native to central Europe. The best known of these three species is the black elderberry, which in today's parlance usually shortened as "elder" in northern Germany is often called "lilac" and in Old Bavaria and Austria called "Holler". There are also the bushy red elder and the elder staudenförmigen dwarf or dwarf elder. The species grow in temperate to subtropical climate and high altitudes of tropical mountains.

Elderberry are mostly woody plants. They grow as shrubs, bushes or small trees, rarely are perennial herbaceous plants. Usually reach a height between elder and fifteen meters and are often deciduous. The opposite or alternate leaves are pinnate and consist of three to nine elliptical, usually serrated leaflets. Sometimes you can see from the basal Fiederpaaren approaches to secondary pinnately. Stipules are present or absent.
